Frecuencias - Art by Joe Ray

Joe Ray explores the frequencies of energy and color expressively and intentionally. His art radiates, pulses, and tells stories. His work reflects a colorful, bi-cultural perspective shaped by Arizona and Mexico. A recurring symbol is the Corazón, inspired by Pre-Columbian ritual, Catholic iconography, and expressions of love, lust, and desire. Ray’s work is stylized and often edged with humor or sensuality. He shares, “My work is rooted in visual storytelling and symbolism shaped by a bicultural life in the desert Southwest. I draw from a landscape defined by heat, silence, resilience, and bold contrasts that continue to shape the energy and color of my work.”

Joe Ray was born in San Luis, R.C., Sonora, Mexico, and grew up in western Arizona on the Colorado River Indian Tribes Reservation in Poston, Arizona. Ray’s art has been in exhibits and publications throughout the U.S. and Mexico. Ray is represented by Royse Contemporary in Scottsdale.
